![]() The way they talk is often very modern which also clashes with why they tried so hard with Ulga yet went into a near slang speech for them. the princesses seem to be from different eras making it hard to mix up. The did a decent job for most of Ulga's dialect of speech so one thing I can give them is I "heard" her through the pages. Her roommate in particular is spiteful and rude. So she is mocked and exiled apart from the other girls. The other girls are into "fashionable" dresses, dances, riding unicorns, tea time, etc. Ulga is the daughter of Odin and is sent to Princess school where she just doesn't fit in. The story is sound besides the lacking engagement. I like ot feel a part of what I an reading. It was always just me sitting in my chair, looking in on their world. I didn't feel anxiety or happy for the characters or situations. Yes this make me smile a few times but not once, while reading this, did I feel connected. I wanted to like this more than I did in the end. ![]() Nothing like that ever hap A reasonably interesting story with amusing characters. The art is decent, but the book as a whole isn't quite good enough to keep me reading.moreĪ reasonably interesting story with amusing characters. The other princesses are awful, and the teachers aren't much better. It's just too bad that she's the only one. She's left her Conan-esque homeland because she's looking for some way to bring peace to her people, without entirely understanding what she's looking for. What distinguishes it from other "grungy princess makes glam" stories is Ulga's motivation. This is an ugly duckling story like so many others. The art is decent, but the boo Cute, but unremarkable. ![]() ![]() I want to clarify that I did order size 7.Cute, but unremarkable. These are an absolute winter essential!Īlso, I notice that when I click on my review it first says I ordered size 7 then it switches to 7.5. They have worn amazingly despite the elements I’ve put them through. Have worn these pretty much daily due to the amount of snow we’ve had where I live (Minnesota). I hope this review helps anyone else on the fence about buying these amazing alternative boots! I’ll be sure to update if my opinion changes after wearing them over the winter. My side by side photo is of an Ugg Classic Tall. *to clarify, these are similar to the Ugg Classic Short. The boot style is incredibly similar as shown in my side by side comparison photo, however, I actually much prefer the soles of these boots over my name brand ones because they feel a little more slip resistant and heavier duty. If it weren’t for the brand tag on the heel, I think a lot of people would believe these to be the expensive name brand boots. The materials and construction of these boots are overall pretty amazing for being so affordable and faux. They wear very similarly, though, and I’m super happy with the fit (they are SO COMFY). I believe that these fit a tad bit looser than my Uggs, as the faux inside lining is just a little less dense. I wear a size 6.5 or 7 in shoes, a 7 in Uggs, and ordered a 7 in these. I am so pleasantly surprised by these! I’ve been searching for an affordable, cruelty-free alternative to Uggs for quite some time, and these seem to check all the boxes. ![]()
